Feria in September

Feria in September
Days before, at the end of the month of August, a festive atmosphere is beginning to be felt in the city with plays, the Proclamation of the Fair, the Festival of Cante Grande and the presentation of the Damas Goyescas.

The Pedro Romero Fair is the most important in the city and takes place in the fairgrounds and in the center. Throughout the week there are many activities, starting with the ladies' parade and the window-shopping contest. On these dates Ronda dresses up as a Gala and in all corners it is alive with dance, singing and joy. It has important concerts from the Municipal Booth, although its main attraction is the traditional Goyesca Bullfight.

The Goyesque Bullfight takes place in the unique setting of the bicentennial Plaza de la Real Maestranza de Caballería. Thousands of people crowd this day to be able to witness a unique event, in which bullfighters and Goyesques enter the bullring in a carriage.

Origin: The beginnings of the Pedro Romero Fair date back more than 230 years when in the neighborhood of San Francisco it was celebrated on September 8, 9 and 10 in honor of Our Lady of Grace. In 1882 the fair moved to the Mercadillo and in 1954 it was converted into the Pedro Romero Fair that we know, displacing the May Fair in importance. It is currently declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia.
