Goyesca Bullfight 2 september 2023
The traditional Goyesca bullfight takes place every year in the Plaza de Toros de Ronda, Málaga. It is framed within the Pedro Romero Fair, which are the most important festivals in the city. At the beginning of September 2023, Ronda is the place of pilgrimage for fans of bullfighting and especially art.

This bullfight is a true leap back in time, where attendees can immerse themselves in the aesthetics of eighteenth-century bullfighting. The bullfighters, banderilleros and picadores are dressed in Goya costumes of the time. A world that faithfully reflected the palette of Francisco de Goya y Lucientes, from whom this unique event takes its name.

The Goyesca Bullfight in Ronda is the most special event of the entire bullfighting season in Spain. At the end of August, long queues form at the box office of the Plaza de Toros to purchase tickets and season tickets for La Goyesca. In addition to the 67th edition of the Corrida Goyesca on Saturday (big day) there is a Novillada de Feria on Friday (the day before) and the 42nd Corrida Rondeña de Rejones on Sunday.

Origin
The first Goyesca bullfight in Ronda was celebrated with the II Centenary of the birth of the bullfighter Pedro Romero in 1954, and under the influence of Cayetano Ordóñez in the Ronda bullring. The second edition was in 1957, in which the matador Antonio Ordóñez (Cayetano's son) participated, who was also responsible for managing the Goyesca in the following years until it became a cultural event that has transcended the city itself. In 2020 it was not celebrated due to the coronavirus pandemic.
