Cañón de las Buitreras

Cañón de las Buitreras
The Buitreras Canyon is located in the heart of the Alcornocales Natural Park between the towns of Gaucín and Cortes de la Frontera (Málaga).

Also called the "Cathedral of the Ravines" of Andalusia for its rock formations, it is one of the main spectacles of the Serranía de Ronda, a very deep canyon created by erosion by the force of the Guadiaro River. If you doubt the most impressive canyoning in Malaga.

The Buitreras Canyon is a seasonal canyon and canyoning can be practiced only and exclusively in the summer between June and November.

The walk begins from a forest path located within the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, entering the cork oak forest. After about 40 minutes of walking, we reach the famous Puente de los Alemanes from where we can glimpse the descent of the ravine that happens to us under our feet.

At that point it enters the Las Buitreras canyon and begins the descent through narrow shady galleries with walls over 100 m high. During the journey, most of the time is floating or swimming and overcoming unevenness by rappelling, climbing and jumping into large pots to reach the end of a 200-meter lake called the little beach or the birth.

Upon arrival there is a path and a 30-minute walk that reaches civilization again (Gaucín station, El Colmenar) astonished by the great adventure experienced after canyoning in the Buitreras Canyon.
